Bright honey aromas with orange zest and peach on the palate.
5.3 tons of Riesling grapes were hand harvested on October 15 and 20, 2010 from two vineyard blocks: 85% R1 block, and 15% R2 block. These had an average chemistry of 20.3 Brix, a TA of 7.9 g/L, and a pH of 2.99. The wine was blended in March.
2010 is remembered for being both very warm (the warmest in 40 years) and very wet (the most since 1973). The Finger Lakes experienced more growing degree days than did Napa or Sonoma! The fast track held on and bloom was two to three weeks early. The first of the Riesling came in on September 30th and the last harvested on October 22nd. It all came in with lighter acid than 2009 and are going to be lovely wines for early drinking pleasure.
