Tasting Notes

Light ruby in color, with a nose of white pepper and red cherry fruit with notes of tobacco leaf and oak in the background. The wine is medium bodied with a core of sweet red fruit, light, well integrated oak with white pepper and light tannins in a fresh, engaging finish.

Winemaker Notes

On October 6, 2008 3.8 tons of grapes from two blocks were hand-harvested, crushed and de-stemmed. The chemistry from harvest was 22.3 Brix, 9.8 g/L Ta, 3.21 pH in the first lot, and 21.8 Brix, 9.4 g/L Ta, 3.24 pH in the second. The wine was then racked to barrels (70% neutral oak, 30% 3rd use French) and inoculated for malolactic fermentation that was completed by mid-November. Following six months, the Gamay was racked out and blended.
