2008 Reserve Cabernet Franc
|Wine Type:||Red WIne|
|92%||2008 Cabernet Franc|
|4%||2007 Cabernet Franc|
|2%||2008 Cabernet Sauvignon|
Medium purple in color showing red and cranberry fruit with a smoky note. Herbal notes are integrated with aromas of black berry, dark cherry, light oak and a breath of mint. The youthful palate is fresh showing light cherry and raspberry fruits against a light shading of oak. This is a young wine to cellar for at least 2 to 3 years.
Block CabFranc2 was harvested on October 24, 2008 (9.5 tons) and block CabFranc1 on November 4, 2008 (1.9 tons). Both at 23 brix. CF2 was harvested as two lots, one of which had been cluster thinned to two clusters per shoot and one left ‘au natural’. The wine was blended during August of 2009 after nine months in barrel.
The freshness, lighter tannins and red fruit enable Cabernet Franc to pair with cheeses, tomato based dishes, ham, pork and veal, poultry, Mediterranean dishes and, of course, gourmet pizza.
