Vine Pair does wine education
Sheldrake Point Winery specializes in growing grapes and making Finger Lakes wine. Wine education is also important to us; we write this blog, put out a newsletter, and spend a lot of time equipping our tasting room team to be knowledgeable ambassadors for enjoying wine. This is why we turn to websites like Wine Folly and Vine Pair, where wine education is their specialty.
Delightful Drops of Drinking Knowledge
During this quiet time of the year while waiting for the next visitor, our tasting room team spends their time dusting wine bottles, cleaning glasses, and browsing the web. Back in December, we did a shout out to WineFolly.com for their creative and interesting approaches to all things wine, including the recently published Wine Folly by founders Madeline Puckette and Justin Hammack.
We have stumbled upon another website that merits your attention: VinePair.com. One of their mottos is “Delightful Drops of Drinking Knowledge.” Not only does this eclectic website focus on all things wine, but also on the big worlds of both beer and spirits.
Founder Adam Teeter and his staff do it all with articles, videos, a Wine 101 guide, plus a Beer 101 and a Spirits 101—to borrow from Benjamin Franklin, we agree that these are all “proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.”
Fill your wine education tool box
Vine Pair has sections focused on Wine Apps, Wine Quizzes, and Wine Tools. Where else might you find a video titled “How to Become a Super Wine Smeller,” or an article for combating winter’s cold season titled “Your Drunk Aunt Was Right: The Hot Toddy Is The Cure To The Common Cold.”
Take a quiz to find out what type of red or white wine may be ideal for your taste. Use their Dinner Party Wine Calculator to determine how to be a truly smashing host. Watch a short video about the five most used wine words and what they mean in plain English. Planning to celebrate Lunar New Year? You can even find out the ideal wines to pair with your Chinese Zodiac.
Need a cheat-sheet for bringing wine to dinner parties or giving wine as a gift? Vine Pair’s brilliant infographic “How To Pick the Perfect Wine For Anyone on Your List” is worth bookmarking on your smartphone.
Vine Pair’s broad coverage of all things fermented and distilled includes etiquette, science, history (tipsy) …and even a page titled Wine Porn.
Wine education help from our friends
Another Vine Pair motto is “Drink to Learn, Learn to Drink, Enjoy!”—and we completely agree!
We at Sheldrake Point take your wine education seriously. The Vine Pair website is not only great fun, it is a place where we feel confident about referring you and our customers.
Visit VinePair.com, and connect with them on social media. This is an unsolicited endorsement and my personal opinion with no commission or kickback from Vine Pair. I just appreciate what they do for wine education, and want to spread the word to Finger Lakes wine lovers.
