Fact: Wine Tastes Better with Live Music

Sheldrake Point Winery is located on a beautiful 155-acre property overlooking Cayuga Lake that includes a dock and small beach, a verdant hillside lawn, and cozy gardens. We think that wine tasting here in the summertime is like visiting a wine oasis. What could possibly make it better? Live music.

An ‘Unexpected Afternoon’ at Sheldrake Point

Saturday afternoons at Sheldrake Point in July and August are the scene of summer vistas, cool wine tasting, and the welcoming notes of live music performed by some of the Finger Lakes region’s most beloved musicians.

Our side lawn serves as a stage, just outside the Tasting Room. We throw open our doors so that the live music lures our guests outdoors to find a seat at one of our umbrella tables.

Our side lawn serves as a stage, just outside the Tasting Room. We throw open our doors so that the live music lures our guests outdoors to find a seat at one of our umbrella tables. It’s a nice surprise for people coming by for a tasting to find an opportunity to slow down and relax instead of rushing on to the next winery. We like to call this an ‘unexpected afternoon’ at Sheldrake Point.

Live Music is Better with Wine

Many of the bands that play Sheldrake Point are well-known around the region, hailing from Trumansburg, Ithaca, Lansing, and Hector. Some musicians are Wine Club members, friends, or friends-of-friends, and our music program has enough of a following that bands often come to us to get on our live music schedule.

This summer we welcome:

Doolin O’Dey, An Irish Celtic band.

West Hillbillies, purveyors of Southern old-time fiddle music and country ballads.

Miller’s Wheel, String band genre, accompanied by a homemade washtub bass!
Coming July 23.

Scott B. Adams, local solo guitarist performing classic rock covers. Coming August 6.

Sundown Sally, a 4-piece, Alt-Americana band performing original music.
Coming August 13.

Tru Bleu, a trio out of Ithaca. Coming August 20.

Zydeco Trailriders, Zydeco, Creole, and Cajun Music from the Finger Lakes.
Coming August 27.

Live Music + Sheldrake Point Wine = Summer in the Finger Lakes

The southern Cayuga Lake/Greater Ithaca region is home for many of us working at Sheldrake Point Winery. It brings us joy to share with our guests what we love about the community’s rich arts and music culture, and to be able to showcase it as part of celebrating Sheldrake Point’s beautiful outdoor space.

We know that after a long day of wine tasting, our guests might not remember the specific wines, but they will remember the experience of being here at Sheldrake Point. We want to stand out as the place where they could relax and enjoy the music.

So we invite you to join us on Saturday afternoons through August, 2:00-5:00PM*, for live music and breathtaking Finger Lakes scenery. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets, pack a picnic or buy local cheese and charcuterie in the Tasting Room. Bring friends, and even come by boat. We can help you pick out a glass of wine.

*Winery is closed for a private event on July 30.

*Music on August 6 is from  1PM-4PM to accommodate our Wine Club Dinner.

Please remember, outside alcohol is not permitted on winery grounds.

Born and raised in the Finger Lakes, Whitney has always been passionate about the region.  She attended Hobart and William Smith Colleges, where she earned her degree in English and Education.  After a tasting room position at a local winery, she traveled to California, New Zealand, and Washington State to work harvest and gain production experience, returning in early 2015 to join the Sheldrake Point team.
